7 best things to do if you are visiting Seville in November

The month of November will start with the traditional festival of All Saints, which will allow you to enjoy a holiday for three consecutive days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). If you are wondering what to do during those days, you may want to discover some of the best activities that the city of Seville offers during those dates and the rest of November. Music, shows, sports, science … there will surely be an activity that you’ll like the most.

1. MTV Music Week and MTV EMA 2019

The first week of November will start with one of the most anticipated concerts in the Spanish city, organised by the MTV network. This small festival will last for four days (between October 31st and November 3rd) and will include the MTV EMA award gala 2019 (November 3rd). The November 1st concert will launch the MTV Music Week’s big day, with Love of Lesbian, Viva Suecia and Carolina Durante participating at the event. The Sevillian group Derby Motoreta’s Burrito Kachimba and Eme DJ will also be performing on stage. This concert will take place at the facilities of the Andalusian Centre for Contemporary Art, in Isla de la Cartuja.

2. Aficionado Theater Casa de la Trinidad Contest

The María Auxiliadora Theatre will host the closing ceremony of the Aficionado Casa de la Trinidad Theatre Contest on November 9th at 7:30 p.m. The last representation of this exciting play will be Yo, Lázaro de Tormes, an approach to the Castilian classic of the Golden Age that continues to be fun and educating at the same time. The María Auxiliadora Theatre is just a fifteen minute walk from the Urban Sevilla Hostel, next to the Jardines del Valle and within the educational complex of the Don Bosco Foundation.

3. Derbi Regatta

Have you enjoyed any regattas lately? A regatta with the colours of two football teams? The Sevillian derbi regatta is the main event prior to the match between Sevilla FC and Real Betis (Saturday, November 9th at 10:15). The match will be held at the old facilities of the Renfe de San Jerónimo and will end near the Royal Nautical Club of Seville. The sporting day can be completed with the help of the clash between Sevilla and Betis, one of the regional duels with more history – and passion – of the first Spanish division.

4. Last family Sundays at Magallanes Park

This year marks the fifth centenary of the first round of the world in charge of the expedition led by the Portuguese Fernando de Magallanes and the Spanish Juan Sebastián Elcano. The Seville Tower, the most iconic skyscraper in the city, has joined the celebrations by organising a series of family activities in the Magallanes Park. The program runs every Sunday until November 24th and includes activities, such as tours and very interactive workshops. It’s a nice way to learn and have fun when travelling as a family to Seville.

5. Monkey Week

With more than 100 confirmed artists, the 11th edition of Monkey Week is considered as one of the great events of autumn for lovers of independent music. The Alameda de Hércules, very close to the Central Urban Sevilla, is once again the stage chosen for the numerous concerts that will take place between November 18th and 23rd. Los Punsetes, Carolina Durante and Neuman, Tropical Fuck Storm, Lysistrata and the Uruguayan Juan Wauters are some of the best-known names, together with the up-and-coming national talents such as Bronquio, Cariño and Texxcoco.

6. The Seville Fado Festival 2019

On Tuesday, November 26th, the second act of the Seville Fado Festival 2019 is scheduled, which will be performed by Raquel Tavares and her team of artists (André Dias, Bernardo Viana, Daniel Pinto and Fred Ferreira). The young Portuguese singer, who is a sensation in her country, already has a long career behind her and is considered as one of the most influential voices of today’s fado. Her concerts are always an experience for the senses, creating an intimate and captivating atmosphere. You can check it out for yourself at the Lope de Vega Theatre, opposite María Luisa Avenue, at 20:30.

7. The Maria Luisa Park in autumn

According to many people, María Luisa Park is the most beautiful and welcoming of all the parks in Seville. As autumn progresses, the park’s plants and flowers change their appearance, offering a very different picture to what can be observed during the summer. Therefore, strolling through this spacious green area is an activity to consider in November, at which time the park’s market stalls get ready to sell Christmas products.
